Swim meets are exciting events where swimmers get to show off the hours of training they've put in. They do butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle over distances ranging from 50 yards to 1,650.

Meet FAQs

    • Swimmers/Parents are expected to check emails and the team WhatsApp for last-minute updates and information prior to leaving for a meet.

    • Arrive on time to the all meets.

    • It is imperative that all swimmers arrive at the meets 15 minutes prior to the first scheduled warm-up time for the team.

    • A proper warm-up is crucial to the success of a meet.

    • Try your best and swim hard. It’s ok to be nervous. Many swimmers have pre-race apprehension, especially for events they may not have swum before.

    • After your race immediately see a member of the coaching staff for feedback. Learning what you did well and understanding areas for improvement will help you become a better swimmer.

    • Relay spots are determined by the coaches.

    • Sit with the team, you are part of it.

    • Support and encourage your teammates...before, during, and after their races.

  • The time to be on the pool deck will be posted on the meet information. In general if warm up is 3:00 swimmer should be on deck at the Y at 2:30 but some parents have to be their earlier for work assignments.

  • Everyone that wears a cap at a swim meet must wear a Flushing team cap.

    If swimmer wears a dome cap over another cap, the covered cap must be a Flyers cap.

  • Swimmers should only be wearing their TEAM suit at these meets. Technical suits are for Special MEETS such as the Holiday meet, Y States and Y Nationals. 12 & unders are not allowed to wear tech suits at meets. This is a USA rule and National YMCA rule.
